In The Chapel
Good Morning Jesus What is it about the early morning hours that seem so much more special and sweet than the remainder of the day? There is something almost magical about its coolness and crispness and calmness. Maybe this is the time when problems and cares are still resting, weary still from their tedious toil of yesterday. But it feels like I am watching God awake -- though I know He never sleeps. For when I catch the first glimpse of sunlight peeking its anxious head, from behind the feathery hazy clouds, it is as though God just opened His eyes -- though I know He never closes them. "Good morning, Jesus," I breathe absorbedly, as I open the plantation shutters to reveal the awesome wonders of His creation. "Thank You for this moment. This very moment…a very present moment that You have given me to rejoice in." I pour myself a steaming hot cup of Peet's coffee into my favorite mug. I inhale its power to motivate and inspire. I gather my "meditation basket" and take a seat in my established chair at the breakfast nook table. It is from this vantage point that I feel most powerful and rejuvenated. Just outside the window is a full array of His capabilities…the verdant maple, the lush flower bed, the multihued myriad of colors, the sparrow's song…all the things that remind me of His eye for design and detail. This time is set aside simply for gratitude and wonderment. I don't ask for favors, I do not place petitions, I don't remind Him of prayers He's already heard. I speak, and even think, in sacred hushed tones, ever so softly, because what I really want is to hear His voice. And it is in silence that I can hear best. SCRIPTURE: PRAYER: Beholding Your mighty works, my gratitude is overwhelming, for Your wonders are many. I am reminded again in this moment that I am in Your eternal care. And what an awesome place to be! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
